School violence in Philadelphia

Happy posting!

Monday, April 18, 2011

What we had in our notes was:
social networking, gun and weapon accessibility, teasing/bullying, ratio of student vs teacher, funding and its effects, suicide, peer pressure, lgbt, stereotypes, and what is being done.

I think there are a few that should be our main topic and some can be shoved in as bullet points. Like lgbt can be reasons for teasing and bullying. I dont know so much about funding what we can really find on that. But I like the ratio of student to teacher. And gun and weapon accessibility can go into suicide and bringing it to school. But we need to make sure everyone knows that whatever articles we find and certain examples are all from Philadelphia.

Let me know what you think.

Ok so I know for sure that Rachel is doing social networking in relation to bullying, Amanda That sounds like a great topic to finish off our presentation with. I believe the rest of he possible topics we were going for were LGBT in relation to school violence, teen suicide in relation to school violence, should a topic be segregation in relation to school violence? I am not sure what everyone else's topics were I seem to have lost my notes of when we wrote down all of our topics...

Presentation

So what are the topics we're DEFINITELY doing? We go Thursday so we don't have much time left, especially if scheduling a meet up is to hard. I would still like to do the 'what are they doing to fix things' part of it. There's been articles about putting armed police in the schools and so forth. I could use all recent reports into it. There's 7 of us and it needs to be like 15 min so we can each do our topic for 2-3 minutes. So lets list what are main points will be and then we can all help find info on it.
